Job Description for Systems Administrator

Work Schedule: 245-day contract, working Positions Supervised: None Monday - Friday 7:30 am – 4:30 pm, 40 hours per
week
Salary: $52,266.08 - $70,375.47
POSITION SUMMARY
The Systems Administrator is responsible for the technical support and administration of the school district’s server/datacenter and network infrastructure. The systems administrator will maintain, implement, support, and troubleshoot the district’s network connectivity. This position will frequently require after-hours work due to the critical nature of maintaining the technology platforms for classroom instruction and district operation.

Responsibilities:
Advise the Manager of Information Technology of the needs of the school district’s server and network
- Manage the server hardware lifecycle, architecting and specifying equipment for refresh and
- Provide a proper hosting environment for the district’s enterprise applications, including (but not limited to) install, secure, maintain, troubleshoot, and manage the district’s physical and virtual enterprise server and storage.
- Develop, test, and maintain backup and recovery strategies and
- Collaboratively work with the Manager of Information Technology to maintain the district’s email and communications
- Ensure data and physical security of user accounts and server infrastructure by implementing industry best practices regarding privacy, security, and regulatory
- Maintain the district’s domain, including DNS and DHCP
- Manage end-user accounts, permissions, and access rights in accordance with best
- Anticipate, mitigate, identify, troubleshoot, and correct hardware and software issues on servers, systems, and
- Schedule and perform software and hardware upgrades, patches, and
- Identify areas to create efficiencies and consolidate
- Maintain knowledge of new and emerging technologies and
- Work with the Manager of Information Technology, Lead Technician, to adjust and maintain the district’s technology deployment strategies.
- Back up the Manager of Information Technology as
- Supervise and direct vendors and Technology staff engaged in special project work, problem-solving, monitoring, and installing data communication equipment and

SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education: Bachelor’s Degree (four-year college or technical school) Preferred
Experience: At least three(3) years related experience, At least one year of supervisory experience
Computer Skills: Experience with Windows Server OS (Ex.2003, 2008, 2012, 2016), Windows 7, Windows 10, Active Director, Group Policy, vSphere, VMware, Hyper-V, HP/Aruba switch configuration, VLAN, DHCP, and other related technologies. Familiar with Apple products (MacOS and iOS).
