Lunch Aide, Early Morning, Recess Aide, and Crossing Guard
Job Summary
Lunch Aide/Recess Aide:
- Supervises students in the cafeteria during meals.
- Maintains regular attendance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Circulates among the tables during mealtime to assist children and resolve problems.
- Supervises students and maintains a cooperative atmosphere during recess.
- Circulates among students and resolves minor problems as they arise.
- Informs building administration immediately of any serious disciplinary problems.
- Ensures that students follow cafeteria rules and procedures.
- Assists with cleaning up spills and ensuring tables and floors are clean.
- Provides assistance to students with special needs as required.
- Encourages positive social interactions among students.
- Communicates any health or safety concerns to the appropriate staff.
- Monitors and manages the noise level in the cafeteria and playground.
- Provides support during indoor recess activities in case of inclement weather.
- Assists in organizing and supervising games and activities during recess.
Early Morning Aide and Crossing Guard:
- Directs or escorts pedestrians across streets, stopping traffic as necessary.
- Guides or controls vehicular or pedestrian traffic at designated locations.
- Monitors traffic flow to identify safe gaps for pedestrians to cross streets.
Physical Demands:
- Work is performed while standing, sitting, and/or walking.
- Requires effective communication using speech, vision, and hearing.
- Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
- Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, and reaching.
- Requires the ability to lift, carry, push, or pull medium weights, up to 50 pounds.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or G.E.D. Certificate.
